Management By Monthly Objectives 2017-2018

Management By Monthly Objectives 2017-2018 (Activities and assignments may change due to the immediate needs of the students, school and the school counseling program.)

August

*Meet with administration to review and determine changes to the school counseling programming and/or additional expectations for the upcoming school year. 

*Update Assessment Calendar and other duties in conjunction with assessment.

*Prepare School Counselor Welcome Back letter for September Newsletter at the elementary and high school. 

*Attend in-service and staff meetings.

*Prepare and develop a professional and inviting room/office appearance, inventory new materials, supplies, etc.

*Connect with every student, faculty and staff member at the school.  (Ex. provide a welcome gift for everyone.)

*Meet new faculty.

*Arrange classroom school counseling schedules for grades k-11.  Grade 12 may be done on an individual basis, according to need.

*Obtain current class roosters.

*Obtain locker numbers.

*Make referral slips for elementary classrooms and distribute.

*Prepare information for high school teachers regarding Educational Plans, 504's, Response to Interventions (RTI) and Misc. Information

*Arrange for new student orientation, welcome visit, etc., according to need.

*Review new student files and 7th grade files.

*Provide administration with school counseling planning and accountability spreadsheet.

*Establish Advisory Committee

*Develop a senior class, junior class, parents of seniors, parents of juniors listserves.

*Offer assistance in the student registration process.

*Review 504 plans and schedule review meetings.

*Elementary School Open House

September -

Provide Juniors with Career and College Fair Information and/or Sneak a Peek activity depending upon the selected activity.  Make arrangements for the Junior Career and College Fair - meals, transportation request, additional faculty if needed.

Provide information to the 10th and 11th grade students regarding the PSAT.

Keep accurate records and provide monthly reports to the school board.  Post on the website school counselor school board reports.

Update Blog/Scholarhips/Opportunities weekly - Monday morning.

Distribute needs assessment as deemed necessary.

Begin Senior interviews in preparation for graduation, in addition to career and college readiness.
